Embassy team at the Ambassador's Residence

Our Embassy represents British interests in Romania. We are responsible for building and developing contacts between our two countries at all levels - and in a wide range of fields.

The British ambassador Robin Barnett is in charge of the Embassy. The Embassy has around 90 staff, one third of whom come from Britain and two thirds from Romania.

Our Consular and Visa Section provides services for British citizens in Romania and issues visas for people wishing to visit Britain.

Trade Development Section handles trade and investment issues including helping British companies do business in Romania and Romanian companies do business with Britain.

The Political Section works to promote political links between the UK and Romania particularly in relation to Romania's goals as EU member state.

The Defence Section promotes British defence interests in Romania, including developing links between the British and Romanian militaries.

The Management staff are responsible for the day-to-day running of the Embassy.

The Communications Section informs people in Romania about British policies and values and provides services for journalists, teachers, students and others with an interest in Britain. We work closely with the British Council Romania on educational and cultural issues.
