Partnership between Timișoara and Nottingham (27/10/2009)

In difficult economic times we need a strong economic relationship between regions and towns in the UK and Romania.| Robin Barnett

Nottingham City Council officials, joined by British Ambassador Robin Barnett, and the Municipality of Timișoara, represented by Mayor George Ciuhandu, signed a Partnership Agreement on Thursday, 29 October. British business people looking for trade opportunities in Western Romania attended the event.

Nottingham and Timișoara have agreed to exchange experience and best practices  in local development, urban regeneration, transport and culture. The partnership will foster business relationships and investment and will facilitate communication in arts, education and on youth issues.

On this occasion, Ambassador Robin Barnett  noted:

‘It is very clear: in difficult economic times we need a strong economic relationship between regions and towns in the UK and Romania. Our Embassy  therefore supports pragmatic partnerships like the one established between Nottingham and Timișoara’.

The official delegation from Nottingham will visit Timisoara during 28-30 October.
